Ingredients
  

  • 4 –5 apples Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith, cored and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground nutmeg optional
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
  • ¼ cup water or apple juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  • Prep apples: Place sliced apples in the baking dish and toss with lemon juice.
  • Season: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar (or maple syrup), cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and vanilla. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
  • Add butter & liquid: Dot apples with butter and pour water or apple juice into the bottom of the dish.
  • Bake covered: Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  • Finish baking: Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes, until apples are tender and lightly caramelized.
  • Rest: Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
