Ingredients

  • Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey 93% lean
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Flavor Base
  • 2 –3 tbsp taco seasoning store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste or salsa
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • Pantry Staples
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Corn or flour tortillas warmed

Instructions

  • Prep
  • Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  • Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or wrapped in foil in a low oven.
  • Stovetop Method
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
  • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up, until no longer pink.
  • Stir in taco seasoning, tomato paste (or salsa), and broth.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and juicy.
  • Finish with lime juice. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Finish
  • Remove from heat and rest 2–3 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use 93% lean turkey for the best balance of moisture and flavor.
  • Liquid is key—broth or salsa keeps turkey juicy.
  • Don’t overcook; turkey dries out quickly.
