Mince garlic, zest the lemon, and juice it.

Cooking Method
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add chicken, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes, just until chicken turns white.
Pour in chicken broth and add bay leaf if using. Bring to a gentle boil.
Stir in orzo, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.
Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and lemon zest.
Remove bay leaf and taste, adjusting seasoning as needed.

Chicken fully cooked and tender
Orzo soft but not mushy
Broth light and flavorful, not overly starchy
Resting & Final Touches
Let soup rest 5 minutes before serving
Garnish with fresh herbs and extra lemon if desired
